SUMMER READY HAIR

Summer is fast approaching and for all the blondes out there, it's time to treat your locks! Here's why...

In the winter, the lack of sun on your hair gives it such a dull and yellow appearance (see picture below!) and sometimes you may not even realise this until your hair catches your eye in the mirror one day.

One of my most common recommendations for blondes is the use of  one good product on your hair - silver shampoo. This can be brought in drugstores or even supermarkets and will definitely help keep your blonde locks clean and free from that brassy shade! Silver shampoo can be used on blonde, silver or white hair and is purple in colour. The purple pigment counteracts the yellow which brings the blonde up so well! I wouldn't recommend using this product every time you wash your hair because eventually, your blonde will become quite white and start turning a tinge of purple, but once per week or every few washes will be fine.

My cousin has beautiful long blonde hair (which is so thick and takes me hours to colour!) and at the end of last winter, her hair had turned slightly yellow. It didn't help that she used a sunin product which advertises that it will brighten the appearance of blonde hair if you spray and leave in the treatment. As you can see in the picture above, the result is not hideous, just not the most flattering!

Following my cousins experiment and also the lack of sun, we decided to use some low lights to tone down the yellow and personally, I think the colour is beautiful (see picture below). I only used tints to achieve this colour (no bleach) so the whole process was not harsh on the hair and instead of being one block colour, there were multiple different colours running through the hair.

Blondes, get to the salon for a few low lights for a change this summer, OR, get yourself some silver shampoo and use that to brighten up your existing colour. The shampoo can be used on coloured or non-coloured hair - it's only shampoo! :)
